Cathedral School fifth grade student, Will Nobles, recently competed in the Chess for Success Oregon State Tournament. Will qualified for the state tournament through several rounds of regional play. At the state tournament, Will competed in five separate games, winning all five rounds to earn the state championship! Congratulations, Will!Will_chess_2

A Lenten Tradition

The Third grade students made pretzels as a commemoration of the season of Lent. The pretzel is an ancient Christian Lenten bread that dates back to the 4th century. They shaped the bread in the form of arms crossed in prayer are a traditional Christian Lenten symbol.



Saturday, March 2nd, twenty-three Cathedral School students participated in the annual Valley Catholic Speech Tournament. Each student presented a prepared elocution speech, and also participated in extemporaneous and impromptu speech rounds. Six of the students scored high enough in all three rounds to receive awards. Congratulations to 4th place winner Jonny, 3rd place winners Noor, Anna, and Camille, 2nd place winner Carson, and 1st place winner Lainie!

Sock Project

The eighth grade again this year organized their service project, known as the “Sock Project.” They oversaw the filling of 1,000 pairs of socks for the guests at Potluck in the Park’s Christmas dinner. This is Cathedral School’s 26th year providing each guest with a warm pair of socks filled with toiletries and snacks.
