April 22nd brings the return of the Annual Middle School and Alumni Dodgeball Tournament. This popular event is sponsored by the 8th grade class, supporting a charity chosen by the 8th grade. This year’s class has elected to donate the proceeds to Mrs. Rae’s Go Fund Me campaign to bring MakerSpaces into local children’s hospitals. The goal of this campaign is to bring Sphero robots, Makey Makey boards, Ozobots, and Little Bits to new MakerSpace carts in the Portland, Oregon children’s hospitals to provide unique and innovative activities for children in long term hospital care.
We are thrilled to announce that with the money already collected the Cathedral School Dodgeball Fundraiser has raised enough money to fund the first Children’s Hospital MakerSpace! A cart and supplies have been purchased for Randall Children’s Hospital, and will be set up by the 8th grade students to be ready for delivery this week.
Cathedral School alumni are invited to participate in the tournament. There is no fee for alumni to play, but donations will be gladly accepted. Teams will be formed on site. Play begins at 6:00pm, ending at 9:00pm.
